The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has recently released national car, truck and motor vehicle accident and fatality statistics for 2012. After six consecutive years of declines the statistics jumped higher in 2012. In Colorado, fatal accidents jumped from 447 in 2011 to 472 in 2012. Interestingly, the number of Colorado car accidents involving fatalities and alcohol use dropped from 160 in 2011 to 133 in 2012 or 17%.
